City of Cadiz and Trigg County Chamber of Commerce officials welcomed the newest downtown Cadiz restaurant Thursday afternoon.
The Burger Barn Bar and Grill opened for business Tuesday, and owner Jeannine Johnston said they had received a lot of support from the community.
Johnston and her husband Eric decided to embark on the journey of opening the restaurant as his time working as a federal probation officer is coming to an end. The Johnston family is from northwest Indiana and decided to open the business after visiting Trigg County many times.
Jeannine said they discovered the lack of restaurants in downtown Cadiz and wanted to do something about it.
As they get adjusted to the community, they will nail down the community’s favorite food items and permanent hours of operation.
The Burger Barn Bar and Grill employs around 28 people, a majority being high school students.
Cadiz Mayor Todd King presented the Johnston family with a key to the city during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
