Heritage Christian Academy Headmaster Announces Retirement

The long-time Heritage Christian Academy Headmaster has announced she will retire at the end of this school year.

Linda Garris began her teaching career at HCA in 1997 and became Headmaster in 2004. She also coached the school’s softball team for 21 years.

During her time as a coach, she led the team to six state championships, two with CSAC and four with KCAA. The team also won several state runners-up.

During her seventeen years as Headmaster, she guided the school through three accreditations. The school said she has been a source of strength and stability for many years and has seen growth from its humble beginnings at Second Baptist and Hillcrest Baptist churches to their current campus, which is now deemed the largest Christian school in western Kentucky.

Mrs. Garris plans to spend her retirement traveling and spending time with her family. Mrs. Garris spoke about her retirement, saying, “Leaving HCA after twenty-four years is bittersweet.  While I look forward to spending more time with my family, I will miss my HCA family.  I have made some great friends during my time here.  My life has been truly blessed by being a part of the Heritage family.  ‘Once a Warrior, Always a Warrior.’”

In response to her upcoming retirement, the HCA school board stated, “We wish to express our appreciation for Garris’s leadership, integrity, and Christ-like guidance during her tenure. “

The school will host an open house and retirement celebration for Garris Thursday afternoon, May 6, from 3:30 to 5:30 in the school’s gymnasium. During the event, HCA families, past and present, can express their gratitude and well wishes.
