Planters Bank And HCC’s Pathfinder Pantry plan food distribution

Hopkinsville Community College officials and the HCC Foundation announced Thursday that HCC students will be able to register to receive food and support thanks to a generous gift from Planters Bank.

HCC Foundation President Nancy Bullard said we are thrilled to partner with our friends at Planters Bank to support this spring drive-thru food distribution. She says because of the generosity and support of Planters Bank, the HCC Foundation was able to obtain hundreds of pounds of food from Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland, and we are excited about helping students once again in this spring holiday giveaway.

The drive-thru food distribution will be from noon – 1:30 p.m., Thursday, April 1, and is open to HCC students only. HCC Chief Institutional Advancement Officer Yvette Eastham says students need to complete an online form and register for the event to ensure adequate supplies. Eastham said 100 totes loaded with high protein food, canned fruits and vegetables and cereals will be provided. Additionally, the college will provide participating students with a $15 gift card to use at Kroger, a longtime partner with the pantry. The college does not maintain facilities for fresh foods. Federal funding provided to the college from the Corona Virus aid package for the institution has been used to purchase gift cards. 85 totes and cards will be distributed on the Hopkinsville campus, and 15 on the Fort Campbell campus.

COVID safety protocols will be followed for the outdoor distribution, taking place on the roadway from Talbert Drive running to the side of the Auditorium Building and by the Emerging Technologies Building.
