Kentucky lawmakers wrapped up the 2021 legislative session earlier this week, but not before overriding several vetoes from Governor Andy Beshear.
Eighth District State Representative Walker Thomas tells the News Edge they nearly overrode every veto from the governor.
Thomas adds they also voted to spend $575 million to help pay down the state’s debt regarding unemployment. He says they also approved spending money from the American Rescue Plan Act to help with some educational needs.
The state legislature also approved House Bill 563, also known as the school choice bill, and a bill that allows all-day Kindergarten across the Commonwealth.
