After the CDC and FDA recommended pausing the use of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, Governor Andy Beshear announced Kentucky would follow.
As of Tuesday, more than 6.8 million Johnson & Johnson vaccines had been given nationwide, with six people having adverse effects.
Beshear added the pause in Kentucky is for two main reasons.
Nearly 1.6 million Kentuckians, or 35-percent of the state’s population, have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Governor Beshear said they are making it easier each week to get a vaccine.
On Tuesday, Kentucky confirmed 799 new cases and announced four deaths, one of those coming from the statewide fatality audit. The state’s testing positivity rate increased slightly to 3.2-percent.
Kentucky is averaging just over 19,000 daily COVID tests, nearly three thousand more a day than February.
