Attorneys Waiting For Test Results In Old Rocky Point Murder Case

Another pretrial conference date has been set in the case against a Cadiz man accused of murdering a Powderly man on Old Rocky Point Road in August.

During a Wednesday court appearance before Trigg Circuit Judge Woody Woodall, Montie Streeval’s attorney Bill Deatherage said he needs more time to look at evidence.

The next pretrial conference was set for Wednesday, June 9, although Commonwealth’s Attorney Carrie Ovey-Wiggins added test results might not be available by that point. She added by that date; they may have a better idea of when they will be completed.

Streeval remains lodged in the Christian County Jail.

Kentucky State Police charged him with murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon in connection to the death of Cameron Phillips, who died from a single gunshot wound to the head, according to his autopsy.

State Police Detective David Dick said during a preliminary hearing, Streeval had picked up Phillips for an alleged drug deal and drove to Cadiz on July 28.

Phillips’s body was found in a wooded area near a cemetery on Old Rocky Point Road on August 6. Dick said Streeval was familiar with the area but denied committing the crime.
