The Cadiz Rotary Club dedicated night two of the annual auction week to Simone Parker and her family and raised more money for the youth and seniors of Trigg County.
Parker, who passed away January 2 from complications of COVID-19, was a massive supporter of the organization and a teacher at Trigg County High School. She also led the Interact Club at the school, with one of the activities the group did, help out at the in-person auction at the Cadiz Baptist Church Annex.
She had a love and passion for all of her students that extended well past the classroom, often checking up on them through social media or conversations at the grocery store.
At the close of the auction broadcast, Rotarian Beth Mann shared the unofficial totals for night two.
Century Club Chair John Rufli added Tuesday night’s total for the Century Club was $16,801, with the week’s total near $109,805.
During auction week, WKDZ is taking the chance to highlight the Rotarians who work tirelessly to make the fundraiser possible. Penny Jones, who has been a treasurer for the club for many years, said the community is what makes them shine.
First-year Rotarian Meg Hicks said she joined the club to give back after the organization helped her family.
Night three of the Cadiz Rotary Radio Auction continues Wednesday evening at 6:00 on 106.5 WKDZ, with live video available at WKDZradio.com. You can also make bids anytime this week via the Big Deals Store.
