Trigg Murder Defendants Facing New Charges

Two Cadiz men already in jail on murder charges saw new indictments on drug-related charges returned by the recent session of the Trigg County Grand Jury.

43-year-old Jonathan McCoy, whose address was listed as the Christian County Jail, was indicted on charges of tampering with physical evidence, first-degree possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, making a false statement to receive benefits, display of an altered or illegal registration plate, and being a persistent felony offender.

According to the indictment, McCoy committed the charges on September 22, 2020, which was six days after the death of Ilene Barnett. McCoy was indicted in February on charges of kidnapping, murder, second-degree arson, tampering with physical evidence, and abuse of a corpse in connection to Barnett’s death.

McCoy is also facing charges in Lyon County stemming from a 2020 case involving a stolen vehicle and arson incident near Kuttawa.

Meanwhile, 32-year-old Montie Streeval of Cadiz was indicted on charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Streeval was arrested on August 10 of last year and charged with murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon in connection to the July death of 25-year old Cameron Phillips, whose body was found off Old Rocky Point Road.

The latest charges are the result of a search warrant of Streeval’s residence by Kentucky State Police in relation to the murder case.

In other indictments handed down by the grand jury, 25-year-old Raekwon Stubblefield of Cadiz and 19-year old Bradley Baker of Hopkinsville were both indicted on charges of first-degree possession of controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia with all three charges firearm enhanced. They are also charged with complicity to using restricted ammunition during a felony. In addition, Stubblefield was indicted on a charge of receiving stolen property under $500 and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

46-year-old Tabitha Alfonso of Morgantown was indicted on charges of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, theft by deception under $500, and being a persistent felony offender.

40-year-old Tyler McClain of Decatur, Illinois was indicted on charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of a synthetic drug, operating on a suspended license, and a first offense of DUI.

39-year-old James Sanders of Cadiz saw an indictment returned charging him with first-degree possession of a controlled substance and violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO.

36-year-old Tonya Loafman of Cadiz had a true bill returned on a misdemeanor charge of theft under $500.
