A groundbreaking ceremony was held on West Edmunds Street off Canton Pike in Hopkinsville Tuesday morning for the third inner-city housing development.
Chairman Brad Kirkman with the Hopkinsville-Inner City Community Housing Development Organization says the non-profit organization was incorporated in 2010 with the goal of providing decent, safe, sanitary and affordable housing for low-to-moderate-income people. He says they are pleased to be breaking ground for the new duplex which is their third development in the Canton Pike area.
He adds construction of the duplex is expected to be completed in September or October.
Hopkinsville Mayor Wendell Lynch said community partners are important players to make this project possible.
Landbank Authority President Brandon Garnett says this project was one of several areas that were targeted by the Community and Development Services and Landbank to improve.
Landbank Authority member, Peg Hays says they have been helping improve communities since 1985.

An open house will be conducted when the project is completed.
The construction project is a collaboration between the Hopkinsville Inner-City Community Housing Development Organization, the Christian County/Hopkinsville Development Corporation, the Hopkinsville and Christian County Landbank Authority, the Community and Development Services, and City of Hopkinsville.
