As more Kentucky residents are getting a COVID-19 vaccine, the pace of the virus’s spread is continuing to slow down.
Governor Andy Beshear announced Friday, 1.76 million residents have received at least their first dose of a vaccine, while 723 new cases and four deaths were confirmed. The statewide testing positivity rate is 3.22-percent.
The state’s incidence rate map shows six red counties, which means the spread of COVID-19 is higher among those communities. Todd County has a rate of 29.1 and is the only county west of a cluster of eastern Kentucky counties in the red.
Over the last week, Todd County added 22 new COVID-19 cases, while Christian County has confirmed 65, and Trigg County added 13 new cases.
There were 29 active COVID-19 cases from Todd County, with four hospitalized outside of the county, as of Thursday afternoon. As of Friday afternoon, there were 164 active cases in Christian County, while Trigg County reported 15, with one hospitalized.
