The sun will shine brightly over Kentucky for the fastest two minutes in sports Saturday.
Excitement for the 2021 Kentucky Derby is high, as the race will get underway around 5:57 p.m. and air on NBC, with pre-race coverage to start at 1:30 p.m.
The Courier-Journal says Essential Quality, trained by Louisville native Brad Cox, is the morning-line favorite after an undefeated run leading up to Saturday’s race. They add he’ll face plenty of competition – other expected contenders include Rock Your World (from trainer John Sadler), Known Agenda (Todd Pletcher), and Hot Rod Charlie (Doug O’Neill).
Twenty horses will be a part of Saturday’s race.
