Truck Driver Injured In I-24 Lyon County Crash

A tractor-trailer driver was injured in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 24 in Lyon County Sunday night.

Lyon County Sheriff’s deputies say a tractor-trailer was eastbound when a tire on the vehicle failed, causing the truck to run off the road and the trailer to overturn. The driver, whose name has not been released, was taken by ambulance to Caldwell County Medical Center for injuries.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd says the wreck occurred in the work zone at the 47-mile marker just east of the KY 293 Eddyville-Princeton Exit 45 interchange. He says the semi-truck that overturned was loaded with instant potatoes and traffic was restricted to one lane while crews off-loaded the trailer and cleared the site. Traffic returned to normal around 9:00 Monday morning.

The crash happened just before midnight.
