If you are a Mediacom customer, you may lose a regional tv channel soon.
In an email to customers Friday, Mediacom said Paxton Media, owners of WPSD Local 6 out of Paducah, may experience a blackout beginning Monday night at 11:59. At that time, Mediacom added Paxton Media might ask them to stop carrying their stations, despite having offered to pay a significant increase over the previous contract.
WPSD General Manager Bill Evans told the News Edge they began working on a routine renewal with Mediacom in mid-April. He added they traded more than ten documents and their last attempt to reach a negotiated compromise included an offer with an extension to June 15.
Evans stated that WPSD remains committed to reaching an agreement, as they have with all distributors in their viewing area.
He added more information would be posted on their website beginning Tuesday.
As for Mediacom, they said every penny Paxton squeezes from them will be passed directly to the customer, as they do not profit from any contract increases.
