The Hopkinsville Summer Salute Festival kicked it up a notch this year to celebrate the 5th annual version of Hopkinsville’s biggest party of the summer with the announcement of the biggest country music name yet as the headliner of the event.
City of Hopkinsville Marketing/Events Coordinator Chris Jung announced Tuesday morning that two-time Grammy Award winner and four-time CMA Award winner Travis Tritt as the main attraction at this year’s festival. He says Tritt, the owner of 19 top-ten hits, will take the festival stage at the Christian County Justice Center around 8:30 Saturday night, August 28.
According to Jung, the opening acts at 7:00 will be CMT up-and-comer Olivia Faye and one of the Rolling Stone country’s “10 New Country Artists You Need To Know,” Kyle Daniel — both from western Kentucky.
Community favorite The Jimmy Church Band also returns this summer and is the headliner Friday night. Jung says 82-year old Jimmy Church and his seven-piece band will take the stage Friday night at Founders Square.
Jung says organizers are expecting a massive crowd for the Hoptown Summer Salute, which has drawn a total of 104,000 visitors during the previous four years combined.
The Summer Salute Festival concerts are free to the public.
