Governor Andy Beshear has ordered flags at all state buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday in honor of a Kentucky sailor who was killed at Pearl Harbor, but whose remains were only identified in September 2020.
According to the governor’s office, Navy Gunner’s Mate 3rd Class, 25-year old Shelby Treadway of Manchester, died in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Gunner’s Mate Treadway will be buried at the Punchbowl on June 2.
All individuals, businesses, organizations, and government agencies are encouraged to join in this tribute of lowering the flag to honor Gunner’s Mate Treadway.
