Governor Andy Beshear announced Tuesday that all of Kentucky’s 195 senior citizen centers could re-open to full capacity next week.
Governor Beshear said all centers must follow any local mask mandates when they open to in-person traffic on Friday, June 11.
Beshear added the centers will still be providing meals to those who need them. If you are 60 or older and need a free meal every weekday, call 877-925-0037.
Beshear said it was a hard decision to make when the centers had to close to in-person traffic 15 months ago.
As of Tuesday afternoon, 2,058,029 Kentuckians have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
In other COVID-related news, Governor Beshear said the Commonwealth had completed the statewide death audit and announced an additional 260 audit deaths Tuesday. The newly reported deaths came from March 20 to October 26, 2020, and after the state decided to audit the entire pandemic instead of the last several months. Kentucky has now reported 7,067 COVID-related deaths and a mortality rate of 1.5-percent, below the national average of 1.8-percent.
