Kentucky State Police are investigating the shooting death of a Dawson Springs teenager that occurred early Tuesday morning.
According to state police, they were contacted by the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department around 1:20 a.m. to investigate a shooting on Hosick Avenue in Dawson Springs.
Police say a preliminary investigation revealed 16-year old Dakota Carter had suffered a gunshot wound. He was transported to Baptist Health Hospital in Madisonville and then flown by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville where state police say he died from his injuries.
The investigation is ongoing and state police say foul play is suspected.
