Christian County Health Director Kayla Bebout Announces Resignation

The Christian County Board of Health has selected an interim director after Public Health Director Kayla Bebout announced Monday afternoon she is stepping down from the position next month.

The announcement came after the board went into a closed session to discuss personnel. Bebout became emotional when she announced she is resigning, effective July 16th, citing she is taking a break and will explore another profession in healthcare.

She went on to say she is grateful for the opportunity to serve in Christian County and she has full confidence the board will select the best candidate for the position to continue the health department’s mission in the county.

The health board then unanimously selected Administrative Services Coordinator Devin Brumfield to serve as the interim director. Brumfield then stated the entire staff is appreciative of Bebout’s service and leadership.

Board Chair Dr. Joe Dempsey thanked Bebout for her leadership and service.

Bebout tells the News Edge Brumfield will begin the transition into the interim director position Tuesday.

Bebout has served as the director at the Christian County Health Department since June 2017 after she previously served as the Finance Administrator at the Pennyrile District Health Department in Eddyville.
