Hopkinsville YMCA Hosting First Mini Triathlon

Registration is underway for the Hopkinsville-Christian County Family YMCA’s first mini-triathlon set for next month to promote the vital link between physical activity and the lifelong maintenance of good health.

YMCA Senior Program Director Joe Wilson tells the News Edge the event will be held at their location on Eagle Way Bypass on Saturday, July 31st. He says the mini-triathlon is a new event at the YMCA.

click to download audioAfter talking to some other YMCAs in other parts of the country, Wilson says they decided to have a mini-triathlon that is fun and a great way for people to be healthy, which is their goal. He adds the cool thing about the mini-triathlon is it’s based on time rather than distance.

click to download audioThe mini-triathlon is for YMCA members and non-members. Wilson says the first 55 people who sign up are guaranteed a medal and tee-shirt as well as a goody bag. He adds the winner of each division will get a trophy and some prizes will also be awarded during or after the race.

According to Wilson, the event will begin at 7:00 the morning of July 31st.

Registration is available online at hopkinsvilleymca.org, at the Hopkinsville YMCA, or at runsignup.com through July 23. There is no race day registration.
