I-24 Westbound Traffic Shift Moved Up To Tuesday Night

Due to anticipated weather conditions on Wednesday, a contractor with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has moved up plans for a work zone shift for westbound traffic on Interstate 24 in Caldwell and Trigg counties.

District 1 spokesman Keith Todd says the contractor plans move westbound traffic to the eastbound lanes around 7:00 Tuesday night. Motorists traveling westbound should be alert for a rolling roadblock starting around the 70-mile marker to allow changes in traffic configuration at the median crossover site. He says a concrete wall will separate the 2-way traffic that will run from mile point 64.5 to mile point 56.5.

According to Todd, the traffic shift will allow the contractor to replace ten miles of concrete pavement along the westbound lanes in Caldwell and Trigg counties.

The work zone will have a strictly enforced 55 mph speed limit with an enhanced police presence.

Truckers also need to be aware of two different maximum load widths — 15 feet for eastbound vehicles and 12 feet for those going west — due to barrier wall.
