Members of the Colonel Stephen Trigg Chapter Sons of the American Revolution, dressed in Revolutionary War attire, gathered in West Cadiz Park Saturday morning to honor their ancestors for a reenactment to remember and honor the Founding Fathers of the United States and the Declaration of Independence.
Chapter President Jim Johnson was the Master of Ceremonies and introduced Revolutionary War Author, Speaker and Living Historian Geoff Baggett, who read the Declaration of Independence.
Following the reading, Steve Mallory, President of the Kentucky State Society, Sons of the American Revolution presented the Ringing of the Bell in honor of the 13 colonies whose representatives approved the document.
Johnson tells the News Edge it’s important to host this reading of the Declaration of Independence for several reasons primarily to educate the youth and also replicate the activities of the Founding Fathers of the United States.
