Residents and businesses in Hopkinsville need to be aware of a planned power outage that will affect a large portion of the city around midnight Tuesday into early Wednesday morning.
HES officials say they will be performing system maintenance to the HES distribution system that will require a power outage for most of Hopkinsville west of Main Street. The outage will begin at 11:59 Tuesday night and is estimated it will last approximately 1-1/2 hours. Assuming no issues are encountered during the system upgrade, officials say power should be restored by 1:30 Wednesday morning.
Officials say residents may want to cool their houses more than normal before the outage occurs. They also recommend that customers not open refrigerators or freezers to retain the cold for the foods inside.
