A well-known Trigg County couple drowned in Idaho Saturday morning while on a fishing trip to celebrate their June wedding anniversary.

According to the Couer d’ Alene Post Falls Press, Boundary County EMS Director Andrew O’Neal said John and Vickie Fourshee of Cadiz were fly fishing in the Moyie River around 9:00 Saturday morning near the Twin Rivers Campground, a location near where the Moyie and Kootenai Rivers meet.  Deputies said witnesses told them the couple was attempting to cross the Moyie River when John Fourshee slipped and lost his balance.  Vickie attempted to help him.  Both were reportedly wearing fishing waders.

Reports indicate friends of the couple pulled them from the water and were attempting to revive them when a Boundary County Sheriff’s Deputy arrived on the scene.  The Boundary County ambulance crew continued life-saving efforts when they arrived on the scene.

The Fourshee’s were part owners of Fourshee Building Supply in Cadiz.  Vickie worked at Trigg County Schools for a number of years before retiring a few years ago.
