Man Injured After Collision With Train

Police have released the name of a Hopkinsville man that was severely injured when his vehicle was struck by a train in Hopkinsville Monday afternoon.

Hopkinsville Police say 28-year-old Thomas Kaneer was westbound crossing the tracks on East 7th Street when his car was hit by the train.

Kaneer was trapped inside his car and had to be extricated by the Hopkinsville Fire Department.

He was taken by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for several injuries including a severe leg injury.

Christian County emergency personnel attempted to get a helicopter to transport him but were not able to due to weather.

Several downtown railroad crossings were blocked as the crash was being investigated.

The wreck happened just after 4 pm.
