The City of Hopkinsville has been named among the top ten finalists for the T-Mobile’s Hometown Techover competition.
During a Facebook Live announcement Thursday morning, Mayor Wendell Lynch was joined by local T-Mobile employees to share the news.
If Hopkinsville is selected as the winner, the city will receive a prize package worth $3 million. The package includes: a $200,000 T-Mobile Hometown Grant and consulting services from Smart Growth America, a little league field refurbishment including a tech upgrade and T-Mobile Little League Call Up Grant, an un-carrier style upgrade to a public space, concierge enrollment in T-Mobile’s Project 10 Million and Connecting Heroes, and a free concert featuring 18-time chart-topping, multi-platinum duo Florida Georgia Line.
However, if Hopkinsville is not the top-prize winner, the city will receive a $50,000 grant to help jump-start or complete a community project.
Whistle Stop Donuts made 6,000 glazed magenta donuts to help celebrate the news and gave them away during the special event.
