The suspect in the double-murder of two Cadiz residents earlier this month is fighting extradition back to Kentucky to enter the court system.
Kentucky State Police Post 1 spokesman Adam Jones said 29-year-old Landon Stinson has not agreed to waive extradition to Kentucky to face a charge of possession of a controlled substance first-degree. Jones said their next course of action will be to request a governor’s warrant to be filed in California to assist in returning Stinson to Trigg County.
According to the Los Angeles County Municipal Court website, Stinson has a court date there on August 18. He is facing charges in California of carrying a concealed weapon.
Kentucky State Police said they wanted to question Stinson in connection to the murders of 76-year-old Mildred Faris and her 28-year-old great-nephew Matthew Blakeley. They were both found dead in Faris’ Cerulean Road home on July 3. Autopsies determined they both died from gunshot wounds.
Jones would not confirm if Stinson is the only suspect in the case or if state police were seeking an accomplice.
