
Three people have now been charged in connection to a child abuse investigation where two children were bruised with a wooden spoon.
Hopkinsville Police say during July 13th and 14th 22-year-old Courtney Harper and 25-year-old Jessica Maddux allegedly hit a 6-year-old and a 5-year-old with the spoon causing severe bruising to each child. Maddux’s boyfriend, 26-year-old Donnie Freeman, was also arrested after he allegedly hit the children with his hand causing serious physical injury.
Police say Maddux admitted she had spanked the children with a wooden spoon as a discipline.
Maddux and Freeman were arrested Thursday afternoon, Harper was arrested Tuesday. They are all charged with first-degree criminal abuse.
