Trial Date Set For Kenwood Drive Shooting Suspect

A trial date has been set for a Hopkinsville woman charged with first-degree assault in connection to a March shooting on Kenwood Drive.

Shequita Buckner is accused of shooting 36-year old Kimberly Harrell in the arm around 11:00 the morning of March 22. Hopkinsville police said Buckner had fled the area when officers arrived but she was later located and taken into custody. Harrell was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center and then flown to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville for treatment.

During a pretrial conference in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday morning, Buckner and her attorney appeared before Judge John Atkins for a pretrial conference. Buckner’s attorney asked Judge Atkins to set a trial date, with him setting a jury trial in the case to be heard November 22-23.

Following her arrest in March, Buckner was lodged in the Christian County Jail but was released after posting bond.
