According to school officials, upcoming open house events for Trigg County Primary’s 2021-22 school year will look a little different than anticipated.
Distancing regulations surrounding the pandemic, coupled with ongoing and considerable construction, mean students and their families will be contacted by their teachers to schedule appointment-only visits before the first day of school on August 11.
Kindergarten students will be scheduled for Monday, August 9 from 3-6 p.m. First and second grade students will be scheduled for Thursday, August 5 from 3-6 p.m.
Any families who’ve already purchased their school supplies are encouraged to bring those to the appointment, and representatives from the cafeteria, bus garage and pick-up program will also be available for information and assistance.
Kindergarten students must be 5 years of age before August 1 in order to qualify for admittance, and must be 6 years old by the same date and have completed kindergarten to be eligible for first grade.
Items required for first-time enrollment to the Trigg County Primary School include: a Kentucky immunization certificate, a Social Security card, a medical examination, a copy of the child’s birth certificate, a vision screening by an optometrist, a dental screening, proof of residency and a parent/guardian photo ID.
Breakfast is provided from 7:25-7:50 a.m. in each individual classroom. No students will eat breakfast in the middle school’s cafeteria this year. This indicates that all students must be dropped off at the primary school in the car drop-off lane, or on the bus. They will be given breakfast, and will then go straight to the classroom for meals.
Kindergarten will have all-day sessions. For any questions, contact Lindsey Kinslow, principal, at (270) 522-2700.
