An OB-GYN at Jennie Stuart Health in Hopkinsville has received a national designation through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG).
Dr. Tarek Toubia, who has been with the hospital since 2016, is now one of the most credentialed medical professionals in the country within the field of women’s health and minimally invasive procedures.
Recently, the Jennie Stuart Health OB-GYN, MSCR, and FACOG became one of the first medical professionals in the United States to pass the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) Focused Practice Designation Exam in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS). The focused practice designation in MIGS provides ABOG the opportunity to recognize Diplomates who have additional surgical expertise and dedicate a significant percentage of their practice to the care of women with benign and complex gynecologic diseases while managing complications using minimally invasive surgical techniques.
Additionally, the focused practice designation provides those Diplomates with a special interest in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery — a more focused, relevant, and pertinent continuous professional development.
Toubia joined the Jennie Stuart Health team about five years ago after completing an additional two years of fellowship training to acquire advanced surgical skills in minimally invasive and robotic surgery, regularly performs a wide variety of surgical procedures, including treatment of endometriosis, Uterine Fibroids, hysterectomy, ovarian cysts, prolapse surgery, and others.
