Woman And Child Injured In Hopkinsville Crash

Police have released the names of a Hopkinsville woman and child injured in a wreck on East 9th Street in Hopkinsville Thursday afternoon.

Hopkinsville Police say a westbound SUV driven by 16-year-old Jacqueline Hernandez of Hopkinsville hit a van driven by 24-year-old David Vance of Hopkinsville that was in front of her.

The crash pushed Vance’s vehicle into a car driven by 28-year-old Vatoria Riley causing her vehicle to hit an SUV in front of her driven by 65-year-old Barbara Mingle of Pembroke.

Hernandez reportedly told police her brakes had malfunctioned causing the crash.

Riley and her passenger 9-year-old Jamal Dawson were taken by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for what police say are non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash happened just before 5 pm.
