Grand Jury Returns Human Trafficking And Kidnapping Indictment

The Christian County Grand Jury returned several indictments Friday including human trafficking, kidnapping, assault and strangulation.

The grand jury indicted 41-year old Alvin Dewayne Brown, whose address is listed as unknown, on charges of kidnapping, human trafficking, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, first-degree possession of a controlled substance – cocaine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Alvin Brown

According to the arrest citation, Hopkinsville police were serving a search warrant on Brown at his hotel room at the Quality Inn and found a female inside the room who was reportedly being held against her will and was not allowed to leave. Police said the female stated she was also forced to have sexual intercourse with multiple people a day and if she didn’t, she would be beaten by Brown. Officers also said they found cocaine and marijuana in the hotel room.

Police reported Brown transported the female from Tennessee to Kentucky and held her captive in the hotel room for a month. She said Brown told her that if she tried to escape she would be put in a body bag and she was scared for her life because if she didn’t do what Brown said he would beat her.

Jaylynn Cheatham

The grand jury also returned two indictments for 21-year old Jaylynn Cheatham, of Hopkinsville, who has also been charged in connection to shooting and injuring two men at the Marathon gas station on East 7th Street. The latest indictments are unrelated to the shooting in March.

Cheatham was indicted Friday on charges of second-degree strangulation and fourth-degree assault after he allegedly choked a female on May 7th and then hit her multiple times causing injuries.

In a separate indictment, Cheatham was charged with second-degree assault, first-degree strangulation, and first-degree wanton endangerment. The charges stem from May 2 when he allegedly choked a female on May 2, and pulled a handgun and threatened to kill her during an assault that caused serious physical injury.
