Settlement Could Be Close In Swykert DUI Murder Case

A settlement could be close for a Texas man charged with DUI and murder, in connection to a single-vehicle crash in June 2020 at Land Between the Lakes.

Christopher Swykert and his attorney, Bill Deatherage, appeared before Judge C.A. Woodall during Wednesday’s Trigg County Circuit Court docket, and noted both the defendant and the Commonwealth were working on resolution.

According to state police reports, Swykert earned his charges on June 20, when he was driving southbound on The Trace, failed to navigate a curve, and ran off the road.

Swykert’s vehicle overturned and crashed into a tree, and police have stated Harry Daniel Kincaid — a 19-year-old soldier at Fort Campbell and a native of Houston — died in the crash.

Woodall elected for another pretrial date on November 10 at 1:15 p.m., and set a trial date for August 8, 2022 at 9 a.m.

Swykert is currently out on bond after being lodged at the Christian County Jail, but must remain in Trigg County until resolution — or his trial — takes place.
