Heat Advisory Issued For Western Kentucky Through Thursday

The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Heat Advisory in effect from noon Wednesday until 8:00 Thursday evening for all of western Kentucky, with a peak index around 105 each afternoon and some isolated locales approaching 110.

A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible.

If you are going to be outdoors, take extra precautions. If possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening hours. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, and stay out of the sun and find some shade when possible.

Also, check on your neighbors to make sure they are not suffering from any heat illnesses, and don’t forget about your pets — make sure they have plenty of water and shade.
