A Hopkinsville man was injured in a wreck that killed a Nashville woman on Charlotte Pike in Nashville Tuesday morning.
Nashville Police say 53-year-old Simone Pierson was sitting on a milk crate at the Charlotte Pike exit ramp from Interstate 40 eastbound when a car driven by 74-year-old Donnie Mayes hit her. Mayes reportedly told police he was exiting Interstate 40 when his brakes went out causing him to swerve to the left onto the grass shoulder.
Mayes and Pierson were taken by ambulance to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where Pierson later died.
Police say Mayes was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The crash happened just before 11 am.
