Trigg County Public School officials have officially made changes to both, the Primary and Intermediate student drop-off and pick-up zone procedures — effective immediately.
For drop-off, parents and caregivers will need to enter the entrance between Becky’s Salon and Foundations Primary Care. The first vehicle that arrives will need to pull all the way down through Lane 1 through the drop-off circle, and then wait until staff signals the release of students beginning at 7:25 in the morning.
Students should exit on the passenger side of the vehicle only. Drivers will wait for staff to release the vehicles to proceed and exit. And as the drop-off line fills into the drop-off circle, additional vehicles will stage using the gravel parking lot between Perdue Field and the doctors’ offices. These lanes should be filled from the far left, beginning with Lane 1. Once it fills, the next vehicle will begin Lane 2, creating a desired staggering effect.
For pick-up, vehicles will need to enter the entrance between Becky’s Salon and Foundations Primary Care no earlier than 2:15 p.m., which will be strictly enforced by the school’s resource officers. The first vehicle to arrive will need to keep to the far left lane (Lane 1) and pull all the way up to the main driveway WITHOUT entering it.
Each vehicle coming in afterward will pull in behind the preceding vehicle, closing the gap between vehicles as much as possible. Once the far left lane is full to the end of the painted line, the next driver will simply start the next lane to the right of the first lane, again creating this desired staggering effect. This will allow for vehicles to fill the additional lanes.
Bill Thorpe, Trigg County superintendent, said these recent amendments to annual procedures came with student safety in mind.
Thorpe added it could also help with the continued expediency of pick-up and drop-off times, which have already improved in these first two weeks.
