Officials with Christian County Public Schools say students and staff are still required to wear masks despite Kentucky’s governor lifting the mask mandate and executive order issued on August 10th.
Spokesman John Rittenhouse with the school district says parents and guardians need to be aware there remains a mask mandate issued on August 12 for all public schools by the Kentucky Board of Education (KBE). According to KBE, he says the mask mandate was separate and distinct from Governor Andy Beshear’s executive order. Therefore, he adds the KBE regulation implementing face-covering in public schools still stands.
Rittenhouse says they will continue to keep parents and guardians up to date as school administrators learn more information, but to be clear, the Kentucky Board of Education’s regulation requiring face coverings in public schools is still in effect.
