Trigg County’s jobless rate in July joined with the other eight counties in the Pennyrile region in showing a decline from June.
Data released by the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet showed Trigg County with a July unemployment rate of 5.1-percent, which was down nearly a full percent from June. The July 2020 rate was 6.1-percent.
Trigg County’s civilian labor force was estimated at 6,063 in July, which is an increase of 78 from January of this year.
Meanwhile, Christian County’s July jobless rate was 5.4-percent, which is down from June’s rate of 6.7-percent. A year ago, it was 7.3-percent.
Christian County’s civilian labor force in July was estimated at 24,401 with 1,329 people actively seeking work.
Lyon County’s jobless rate was 4.3-percent in July compared to 4.9-percent in June. Lyon was one of two Kentucky counties that saw its jobless rate remain the same from 2020 to 2021.
Cumberland and Woodford counties recorded the lowest jobless rates in the commonwealth at 3.5-percent each.
Magoffin County recorded the state’s highest unemployment rate at 12.1%. It was followed by Martin County at 9.7-percent.
