Secretary of State Michael Adams announced Friday that voter registration in Kentucky remains stagnant, as July saw an increase of only 1,713 voters to the rolls. He says while 6,339 new registrations were logged, 4,626 registrations were canceled which included 3,203 deceased voters, 928 voters who moved out of state, 436 felony convicts, 35 voters who voluntarily de-registered, 23 voters adjudged mentally incompetent, and one duplicate registration.
According to Adams, Democratic registrants represent 46.3 percent of the electorate with 1,648,380 registered voters — a drop of 1,410 since June 30. Republican registrants total 1,578,257, or 44.3 percent of voters which is an increase of 1,998 registered voters since June 30th. In addition, Adams said 9.4 percent of voters, 335,037, are listed under other affiliations, which saw an increase of 1,125 registrants since June 30th.
Adams said the state’s ongoing struggle against the coronavirus continues to inhibit voter registration activities. He reminds Kentucky’s residents you can register to vote on the state’s website sos.ky.gov.
