Local Businessman Bill Flynn Passes Away

Well-known local businessman Bill Flynn passed away at his home Monday.

Flynn began his career in the manufacturing of blue jeans in 1962 by working for O’Bryan Brothers, according to Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home. In 1976, he started Flynn Enterprises in Hopkinsville which would expand to locations across western Kentucky and continues today as an International Company. He remained active with the company and was still serving as chairman of the board at the time of his death.

In addition, Flynn was also a philanthropist who contributed to the welfare and livelihood of many people in the community. He served as an active supporter and chairman of the University Heights Academy board for many years. He was also a supporter of the University of Tennessee, Vanderbilt University and many other educational, athletic, and charitable institutions.

Flynn, a native of Old Hickory, Tennessee, is survived by his wife, Katherine, two sons and four grandchildren. He was 81-years old.
