The Land Between the Lakes Woodlands Nature Station will be welcoming kids and their families this upcoming Labor Day, with plenty of programming planned for the “Outdoor Kids’ Weekend” set for September 4-6.
With extended Saturday hours (10 a.m. — 7 p.m.) and 10 a.m. — 5 p.m. slates for Sunday and Labor Day, can expect and enjoy a kid-friendly foray into some basic, but important, outdoor and camping skills.
The popular “Parade of Raptors” will take place each day from 4:30 – 4:50 p.m., as will the all-day program “CSI: Critter Scene Investigation,” which runs from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. each day.
On Saturday, Make Your Own Walking Stick, Go Fish!, For Goodness Snakes and Crafty Coyotes will delight.
On Sunday, it’s Possum at the Picnic, Make Your Own Track Book and Raccoon Relays. Monday, families can Make Your Own Tree ID Book, enjoy a Woodland Walk & Wander Hike, learn about Campfire Cooking, or embrace some studying with Fears & Phobias and Let’s Get Snappy.
Saturday and Sunday evenings also play host to the Sunset Canoe Trips, with canoes at $30 apiece.
Located at 3146 Silver Trail Road in Cadiz, admission is $7 for 18-and-up, $5 for 5-to17 years old and free for 4-and-under.
Fourth-grade students can go to https://everykidinapark.gov/, get their free “Every Kid in a Park” pass and get their family in for free.
