A report of shots fired at a city park led to an investigation and a gun being recovered in Hopkinsville Monday afternoon.
Hopkinsville Police say they were called to the park between East 2nd and East 3rd Streets around 6 pm for a report of shots being fired. During the investigation, it was reportedly found that a man pulled out a gun when the shots were fired at him and attempted to shoot his gun but it would not fire.
The man then allegedly handed the gun to 18-year-old D’Tavious Williams-Knight, of Clarksville, who tossed it into a woodline.
Police say no damage or shell casings were found in the area, and the gun was recovered. Williams-Knight was cited for tampering with physical evidence.
Police ask if you have any information about the identity of anyone involved to call the Hopkinsville Police Department at 270-890-1500.
