Community Concerned About Beef Processing Plant

Concerns of property values, smells, traffic, and being left out of the process surround the potential new industry coming to Christian County.

About 150 residents met at the Pembroke gym to discuss the meat processing plant that is looking at the area. Moderator, Brandon Garnett went over some of the details that have been made public about the plant and said the land is currently benefiting the economy.

click to download audioWayne Hunt and Carter Hendricks were on hand and answered a few questions, saying the plant would operate two shifts with the third shift for cleaning, maintenance, and making sure regulations are adhered to. Several Christian County Magistrates and Hopkinsville City Councilmembers were also on hand taking notes.
