A Cadiz man was charged after he reportedly ran from deputies on Carlton Lane in Trigg County Thursday night.
Trigg County Sheriff’s deputies say 34-year-old Joeseph Boots was seen behind a dumpster, and when asked if authorities could search his pockets he refused, then fled on foot. He fled into a wooded area and through a 20-foot ravine. Deputies say he was later located again and tossed a blanket and ran into a wooded area.
Boots was taken into custody after he called authorities wanting to turn himself in. Deputies say he claimed he fled due to having marijuana, which he was trying to destroy behind the dumpster.
He is charged with possession of marijuana, tampering with physical evidence, first-degree fleeing or evading police, and criminal littering.
