Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation has announced the Downtown Trick or Treat will be in-person for the annual event later this month.
Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Superintendent Tab Brockman tells the News Edge they will be welcoming back ghouls and boos in-person this year after changes were made to last year’s annual Halloween event due to the pandemic.
click to download audioRecreation Program Coordinator Pam Rudd says merchants and local organizations will be located on Main Street from 6th to 13th streets, giving out candy, give-a-ways, information and goodies.
Brockman says they will also have a costume and theme contest for vendors again this year.
click to download audioRudd says the contest will be held for the “most creative” booth with $200 awarded to the first place winner and $100 for second place.
According to Rudd, there will be no parking on South Main Street, between 6th and 13th streets after 3:00 Friday afternoon on October 29. Also beginning at 3:00 that afternoon, Rudd says South Main Street between 6th and 13th streets will be closed to traffic.
Adults are encouraged to accompany children ages 12 and under, and all tricksters and treaters should bring their own bags.
Rudd says they are also looking for route participants to be a part of the fun and any organization interested in giving away candy or hosting a giveaway should contact her at Parks and Rec.
