Drivers need to be aware of an eastbound lane restriction along U.S. 68 West of Cadiz in Trigg County starting Tuesday.

District 1 spokesman Keith Todd with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says a contractor plans to restrict eastbound traffic to one lane between the 13 and 14-mile marker near the Averitt Road intersection to allow rock to be placed along some slopes to aid in erosion control.

He says all traffic will move to the left-hand or passing lane in the work zone. Motorists should be alert for slowing and merging traffic approaching the work zone, as well as being alert for trucks hauling material to the worksite.

According to Todd, this is part of ongoing finish work that started in mid-September along the 4-lane section of U.S. 68 between Cadiz and Canton.

He says the work zone will move from time to time to accommodate similar work at other locations between Cadiz and Canton. He notes additional activity includes reworking washouts, installation of fence/guardrail, a final found of shouldering, grading in the median, seeding, ditching, and other finish work. In addition, he says the contractor will be doing some more work along the multi-use trail.

Todd says this ongoing finish work runs along the U.S. 68 corridor at Boyd’s Landing Road near Canton and the intersection of U.S. 68-Business at the west edge of Cadiz.

Rogers Group is the prime contractor on the $54.2 million design-build project. Todd indicates the construction of the 7-mile-section is estimated to be about 90 percent complete.
