A recently promoted sergeant with the Hopkinsville Police Department was recognized by Hopkinsville City Council and Mayor Wendell Lynch during Tuesday night’s meeting.
Deputy Chief Mike Seis introduced Sgt. Samantha Rodriguez to the council. He said she has been with the City of Hopkinsville for a little over 8 years. During that time, he noted she served as a crime scene tech and worked in the electronic crimes division.
Following the introduction, Rodriguez was sworn in by Mayor Wendell Lynch.
Sgt. Rodriguez’s husband, who was running late for the ceremony, arrived just in time to pin the badge on her uniform.
There are only two times a badge is presented to an officer – upon graduating from the police academy and upon being promoted.
