The Christian County Health Department reported two deaths Thursday linked to COVID-19, bringing the county’s death total to 131 since the pandemic began.
The deaths were a 91-year-old white man and a 44-year-old African American female. The health department said both people were unvaccinated and both had underlying conditions.
Meanwhile, the number of new weekly COVID-19 cases was less than 100 for the first time in nearly three months. The health department reported 79 new cases in the past seven days with 22-percent of them breakthrough cases.
87 of Christian County’s 156 active cases are between 22 and 59 while 39 are 21 and under.
Communications Director Cloie Rager says the health department has not received official guidance for administering booster doses of the COVID-19 Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccines. She said they are awaiting official approval and guidance for administering them.
The health department is offering flu vaccines daily with walk-ins accepted until 3:30 PM Monday through Thursday and until 10:15 AM on Fridays. The cost is $30.
