Manufacturing leaders were saluted Wednesday during the annual South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council regional industry appreciation luncheon at The Bruce Event Center.
The annual event celebrates the over 60 manufacturers that provide over 12,000 jobs and over $400,000,000 in direct annual payroll each year. The regional industry partners were thanked for their corporate leadership and ongoing support of efforts like United Way. In 2020, our regional industries raised nearly $200,000 for United Way agencies and those most in need.
For the third consecutive year, the SWK EDC also recognized industries for their commitment to sustainability as part of the Go Green Sustainability Awards process. Through a partnership with the Tennessee Valley Authority, the SWK EDC region has achieved gold-level sustainability status for Christian County and silver level status for Trigg County while working with local leaders and industries to highlight and celebrate their various efforts in sustainability and environmental stewardship.
The EDC recognized the 2020 Go Green Sustainability efforts of Pregis, Novelis, Brazeway, Commonwealth Agri-Energy, Riken Elastomers, and Walmart Distribution Center. They also awarded honors for 2021 to Riken Elastomers, Commonwealth Agri-Energy, Douglas Autotech, and Huhtamaki
