Effective as of Monday, October 25th, Jennie Stuart Health has updated visitation guidelines for a wide breadth of concerns.
For the emergency department, one visitor will be allowed to accompany the patient. This visitor must remain in the patient room at all times, and visitors will be allowed to alternate with other visitors.
For non-COVID inpatient and critical care, two visitors are allowed at the same time, following appropriate screening and masking protocols from 9-to-6 daily. Different visitors may alternate, but officials ask to limit the same two visitors each day.
For the intensive care unit, one visitor is allowed following appropriate screening and masking protocols from 9-to-6 daily. The lone exception: no visitation is allowed between 2-4 p.m., in order to allow for an undisturbed rest period for the patient. One visitor my alternate with one different visitor each day.
For the maternity ward, visitation is limited to one birthing partner that should remain the same through the duration of the mother’s stay. NICU is limited to the parents of the baby only.
In post-partum, one support person is allowed following screening and masking protocols, also from 9-to-6 daily. Those patients may have one addition visitor daily alongside the one support partner. An exception: no visitation will be allowed during kangaroo care between 2-4 p.m., in order to allow for undisturbed parent/infant bonding.
In-person visitation for the behavioral health unit remains suspended, with Zoom visitation appointments available directly through the unit.
COVID-19 patients, and those being screened for the virus, are not allowed visitors unless patient condition warrants a restricted visit related to possible end-of-life situations.
Visitors should enter through the main hospital entrance near the Emergency Department. The entrance closes at 7 each night, and reopens at 6 each morning.
Other key guidelines:
- Surgery Patients: One visitor will be allowed to accompany the patient, and asked to wait in the surgery waiting room until the procedure is complete. Once done, the patient’s visitor will be notified of the next steps and visitation opportunities. One visitor may alternate with another visitor each day.
- No visitors under the age of 16 years old will be allowed.
- JSH officials ask visitors remain in patient rooms at all times, while waiting rooms serve for patient use only.
- Essential caregivers (one healthy adult) must accompany patients under 18 years of age, as well as adult patients who are physically dependent and require assistance.
- Visitors of patients at end-of-life may be allowed to visit outside of the posted visitation hours.
The 18th Street Entrance remains open for outpatient infusion, cardiac rehabilitation and pulmonary rehabilitation patients ONLY, and the entrance will be closed at 4:30 p.m. each afternoon and reopened at 7:30 a.m. each morning.
